I began drawing labels for the Creamery when I still scooped ice cream. Right out of high school I got a job where many of my friends were working, at the neighborhood ice cream shop. When putting out toppings, I used to draw little characters on the parchment paper to label each container. A smiley cashew, friendly bacon, and happy cookie would adorn the counter when I worked. When my boss Dina noticed the drawings, she suggested I turn it into a customer facing experience, by drawing the labels for each flavor.

At the time, all the labels were blank templates that had the flavor names hand written on them. It felt so exciting to be encouraged towards sharing my drawings, and I took a lot of pride in making each label by hand. Eventually as the business expanded, and our roster of flavors bloomed, it made more sense to digitally draw each flavor. So, scoopies were born.

My little friends that grace each delicious pint of ice cream became something that I have been able to share with so many people, and a staple of the Long Beach Creamery brand.
